About Cap Table Snapshot
A snapshot is useful for reference when it has a clear date and source. This template provides a Notion format for that overview. Keep formal ownership and legal records in their authoritative systems and reconcile the page when the underlying information changes.
What’s included
- A Holdings database for stakeholders and security types
- Shares, price per share, ownership percentage, and holding status
- An invested-value formula and ownership-breakdown view
How to use it in practice
Enter a small set of positions you can reconcile with the official records. Check the invested-value calculation and label the basis of each ownership percentage. Keep SAFEs, options, and other instruments distinguishable so an estimate is not confused with issued shares. Date the snapshot and review it after a financing or equity change.
Set it up in your workspace
- Open the original Notion Marketplace listing and add the template to your chosen workspace while signed in. Keep its example records until you understand how the pages connect.
- Use sample information to understand the layout. Record the source and date of any real figures you later add.
- Try one complete example before adding a large backlog. Check that its views and any calculations show what you expect, then replace the sample content with your own.
Who it suits and what to consider
Founders and teams organizing ownership records. A useful ownership reference. The creator’s formula multiplies shares by price, while legal ownership and conversion terms still depend on the underlying agreements and cap-table records.
